Two North Carolina men have been charged in connection with a stolen utility trailer and a golf cart that authorities have recovered, according to a news release from Sgt. April Stanley with the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office.
Robert Dion Maldanado, 37, of Lumber Bridge, N.C., and Gary Lynn Thompson, 41, of Bladenboro, N.C., have each been charged with two counts possession of stolen goods and one count possession of drug paraphernalia, the news release stated. Maldanado also has been charged with three counts of felony larceny, and Thompson also has been charged with two counts of felony larceny.
Maldanado is being held at the Brunswick County Detention Facility on $15,000 bail. Thompson, who was also wanted by Bladen County authorities when he was arrested in Brunswick County, is being held at the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office on $180,000 bail after being served warrants from Brunswick and Bladen counties.
Maldanado and Thompson were both charged Wednesday after they were found in possession of one of two stolen golf carts and a utility trailer at their residence at 2000 Inland Drive in Ocean Isle Beach, N.C., which is one street over from Oakland Drive, where the two golf carts had been stolen from two residences.
