Prosecutors on Tuesday filed charges against a suspected drunken driver accused of running a stop sign and hitting a family's vehicle in Muscoy, killing a 12-year-old Los Angeles girl and her 21-year-old cousin.Alexander Deleon Velasco, 21, remained jailed at West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga on $25,000 bail.
The San Bernardino man has been charged with gross vehicular manslaughter, DUI causing injury and DUI over 0.8 percent alcohol causing injury, according to a criminal complaint.
Charges are expected to be amended because the front passenger died Monday night after the case had been forwarded to the District Attorney's Office.
Authorities say Velasco blew through a stop sign Sunday at the Mesa and Macy streets in Muscoy and broadsided a 2004 Kia traveling south. The impact from Velasco's 1998 Chevrolet truck pushed the Kia through a wooden fence and into a palm tree.
