Woman sentenced for DUI death Columbus Dispatch

A woman who drove drunk and high on cocaine was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison Monday for a crash that killed a local pastor last August.

Stacy Aller, 37, had already pleaded guilty in Union County Common Pleas Court to aggravated vehicular homicide and operating a vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance.

Aller's SUV went out of control on Rt. 42 in Union County Aug. 7, crossed the center line, hit a guardrail and them bounced into the passenger side of an oncoming minivan. A passenger in that van, the Rev. Judith Jones, 54, of Powell, was killed.

Jones was the children's ministry director at Meadow Park Church of God on Columbus' Northwest Side.

Jones and one of her daughters, Lara, were on their way home from a college visit when the crash occurred. Lara was driving and was injured in the crash.

Union County Prosecutor David Phillips asked for the maximum sentence in the case and Judge Don Fraser agreed. Phillips said the crash was horrific.
