Leslie To Miss All-Star Game With Knee Sprain Hartford Courant

The WNBA announced Wednesday that Los Angeles Sparks center Lisa Leslie will not play in Saturday's All-Star Game at the Mohegan Sun Arena because of a sprained knee.

Leslie, who will retire at the end of the season, will be replaced by Sacramento Monarchs forward Nicole Powell. Powell leads the Monarchs in scoring, averaging a career-best 15.1 points per game.

Case Continued Former UConn All-American Diana Taurasi received a one-month extension in her DUI case. Her next court hearing is scheduled for Aug. 21.

The Arizona Republic reported that a Phoenix Municipal Court judge offered no objection Wednesday to her attorney's request to postpone the hearing. Taurasi, the All-Star guard with the Phoenix Mercury, pleaded not guilty earlier this month to three drunken-driving charges, including extreme DUI.

Taurasi was pulled over by a Phoenix police officer July 2 around 2:30 a.m. The officer claims her 2006 Land Rover drifted outside of a traffic lane
